Monstrous, huge, underwater eyebrows

I've been fascinated by the coverage of BP's little charlie foxtrot down there in the coast. I can't say I have a lot of empathy for the people involved. Or, the people affected. Or, the wee fishies that are dying by the thousands.

I'm not going to try substantiating my point of view. This is a blog, remember.

Anyway, it broke yesterday/this morning that there are 10-mile long oil plumes leaking from the oil well. Not surprising, considering the possibility that it's losing as much as 25,000 barrels every day.

What's interesting, of course, are the variety of headlines chosen by our favorite editorialists editors.

AP: Huge underwater oil plumes found in Gulf of Mexico
NPR (The two-way; NPR's news blog): Underwater Oil Plumes Alarm Scientists
ABC News: Huge Oil Plumes Found Under Gulf as BP Struggles
BBC: Monstrous underwater oil plumes found in US Gulf Coast

And last, but not least, Fox News: BP Hits Snag to Control Oil Leak in Gulf
